The project consortium comprises 12 partners from 7 European countries; 5 of which are SME Associations, 2 SMEs and 5 RTDs.
An overview of the role of each partner within the project is described below:
Brunel centre for Advanced Solidification Research (BCAST) is an academic research centre focusing on both fundamental and applied research on solidification of metallic materials at Brunel University, UK.
In the project it will provide its know-how on nanoparticles, heat treatments and characterisation techniques especially electron microscopy.
POLITECNICO DI MILANO
Politecnico di Milano was founded in 1863. Is one of most famous universities in Italy with long tradition in research activities.
The PolyMi will lead the WP 2 WP 4 that are related with the direct and pulse current deposition of Ni-P alloy coatings. Also they will participate in other work packages and especially in structure characterization of the as plated coatings.

(ASSOCIATION OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY COMPANIES OF NORTHERN GREECE)
SEPVE (Association of Information Technology Companies of Northern Greece) was established in 1994 as a private non-profit organization based in Thessaloniki.
SEPVE will have advisory contribution in all WPs but especially in the WP1 (specifications) and WP8 (training) and WP9 (dissemination).
BRITISH ALLIED TRADES FEDERATION LGB
The Surface Engineering Association (SEA) is the umbrella organisation for the trade associations representing firms involved in surface finishing activities. Membership comprises predominantly of SMEs involved in electroplating, paint and plastic coatings, heat treatment of metals and supply companies to these industries.
SEAs role in this project is to supply information on industries needs and to assist in the dissemination of the research findings by producing teaching and training material and by organising workshops.
CENTER OF TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH AND INNOVATION LTD
CETRI’s main role is to help companies and public institutions implement technological innovations. CETRI is in close collaboration with companies and public institutions in the implementation of technological innovations, enabling them to strengthen their competitive position over the long-term. The Nano-Technology division provides focused research on processes and methods. CETRI 's researchers offer technological advice, launch new innovation routes, and provide guidance and support until they reach the desired goal.
In the HardAlt project CETRI will be involved in the development of Ni-P composite coatings especially utilizing pulse plating. We will provide expertise in various fields such as the formulation of electroplating baths, properties evaluation and advance characterisation techniques. Furthermore, CETRI will be involved in the design and setting up of the desired apparatus for pulse plating electrodeposition.
AGRUPACION PYME PARA LA SINERGIA EN I MAS D SL
It is an organization of small and medium enterprises, which aims to combine efforts and synergies of all our partners for the development of Research
and Development. It works with SMEs from different fields primarily industrial SMEs from all sectors.
AGPYME will also have significant contribution in all WPs. Specifically they will set specification for the coatings properties and thermal treatment as they have deep knowledge in this fields. Also they will participate intensively in both training and dissemination activities
FALEX TRIBOLOGY NV
Falex Tribology is the market leader in industrial standard test instruments for friction, wear, abrasion and erosion testing; in fact a number of ASTM standards are provided by Falex instruments only. It provides support and consultancy to industry by performing fee testing in their search for solutions to friction, wear and/or lubrication problems. Falex has a long experience and deep knowledge on hard coatings applications.
They will have a significant contribution in all WPs and especially in WP1 (specification) and WP 7 (demonstration activities). Also they will assist in the
dissemination of results through their network.
UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHAMPTON
The University of Southampton is one of the top 15 research universities in the UK. They are quite aware about hexavalent Cr issue organizing a series of seminars regarding REACH legislation. They have a strong electrochemistry group, with facilities and expertise in tribology and corrosion of coatings (nCATS).
The UoS will lead the WP 6 (Properties Characterization) and WP 7 (demonstration activities). They will responsible for the characterization of functional properties of the coatings (hardness, tribological performance and corrosion). Also they will have contribution to other work packages.
ASFIMET has been founded 1988. The Association is open to all the operators of the Surface Finishing market segment, having the scope to provide the widest possible service to the Plating and the
Surface Treatments Industry; the Association qualifies itself through its engagement diffusing both the scientific and the technical knowledge, with its own technical magazine "Galvanotecnica e
nuove finiture" and with the organisation of seminars, workshops and educational courses for galvanic operators.
ASFIMET will have an active advisory role during all WPs. Moreover they will be responsible for the organization of the training workshops and seminars (leaders of WP8). Through their magazine they will also disseminate the results of the project.
CENTRE FOR RESEARCH AND TECHNOLOGY HELLAS
CERTH is a legal, non-profit entity organized under the auspices of the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT). CERTH draws heavily from the critical scientific mass of the University of Thessaly. CERTH's mission is to conduct basic, applied, and technological research that leads to new materials, products and services with industrial, economic and social impact.
CETRI will have input in various WPs that are related to the development of composite coatings especially utilizing pulse plating.
KAMPAKAS METALLOURGIKI TECHNIKI EMPORIKI KAI VIOMICHANIKI AE
Kampakas SA is a leading company in the production of wear resistant alloys for use in Mining, Cement, Power and Defence Industry as well as in manufacturing customized metal articles. With exports to 15 countries, Kampakas SA is one of the key players in this market. By combining the long experience of the staff with the innovative technologies available in the company’s facilities, it produces high quality products.
Kampakas S.A. will contribute in all work packages by providing the uncoated samples. Especially they will have an active role in WP7 that is the demonstration activities.
SLOVENSKA SPOLOCNOST PRE POVRCHOVE UPRAVY
Slovak Association for Surface Treatment and Technology is non-profit organisation for experts in the field of surface treatment, corrosion of metal materials, corrosion protection and applied
electrochemistry from Slovak universities and enterprises.
SSPU have advisory contribution in all WPs but especially in the WP1 (specifications) and WP8 (training). Also they will contribute in the dissemination of results among its members.
